Steve Pavey, drums and vocals --
The webmaster and driving force
behind Pleasure Grove Productions
and The Rhythm Express, Steve grew
up in Rising Sun, Indiana a few miles
from John Mellencamp's hometown
of Seymour. With 11 aunts and uncles,
he was exposed to a wide variety of
music at an early age.
Steve got his start with Larry Groce
(Junk Food Junkie), and went on to
open for several national acts, that
included Three Dog Night, Bread, Rare
Earth, Billy Preston and Steppenwolf.
One of his bands recorded for A&M and
he played some sessions with Jimmy
Griffin, Rupert Holmes, The Buoys,
Raspberries and Looking Glass. Behind
the scenes, he also worked in promotion,
and booking and management for BHE
and GMA.
Steve is a singer's drummer, meaning he
plays what the song needs with impeccable
time, rather than playing solos designed to
feed big egos. His influences include Jim
Keltner, Ringo Starr, Mike Botts, Ginger Baker
and Keith Moon. The Rhythm Express is one
of the most fun projects that he's been part of!
